We know it can be frustrating when your vape pen isn’t working. 99% of the time some quick trouble shooting can help. Please check out our handy list of tricks and tips below. We have broken it down further by type of issue to make it easier.
Issue # 1: My Pen will not Charge or Draw (pull)
The most common problems with all brands of vape pens is when the battery does not connect properly to the heating element via the firing pin. You will discover this issue because you are not able to take a draw from your cartridge and/or charge the battery.
Please find the 2 most common causes for this below:
A. Issue is with the connection plate: Something has occurred to prevent a clear connection from the thread to the battery. Use a paperclip (or similar object) to carefully adjust the connection plate. Please see a demonstration in the video below.
B. There is residue on the firing pin: It is easy, and important, to keep your vape pen clean. Doing so will help it to last longer and to prevent issues with the firing pin. Simply dab the inside of the pens chamber (where it connects to the cartridge) with a cotton bud or q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol. Let the chamber dry and your vape should be working again. Please see the video below for a demonstration.
Issue #2: Your Vape isn’t producing any Vapor
It can be frustrating when your vape pen doesn’t produce any vapour even when you know it is charged and you can see that the cartridge has oil. 9 times out of 10 this is happening because the firing pin does not have a good connection to the coil. This is often a result of screwing the battery onto the cartridge too tightly.
To prevent this issue use a pocket knife, razor blade or paperclip (be careful!) to gently pull the firing pin (on the cartridge) out to be flush with the bottom of the cartridge. Please see the video below for a demonstration.
Issue #3: My Reusable Vape Pen is Plugged
Re-usable pens can become plugged depending on how they are used and stored. If this happens while you are pulling from the cartridge simply remove the tip and blow from both sides. You can also try warming the pen with a blow dryer or rubbing it between your hands as there likely is a thin film of oil blocking the air hole. This should remove the clog.
LiT Vape Pen is Flashing – What does the different colours mean?
If your vape is flashing the same or different colours and isn’t working please look at the codes below and try the corresponding fix.
LiT’s eLiTe Series Pens Error Codes – What it means and how to fix LiT Vape pens:
Issue | Reason | Fix |
Flashes 10 times | Coil protection | This occurs when the button has been held to heat the coil for more than 10 seconds. Stop pressing the button for a few minutes then try again. |
Flashes Red, Blue, Purple | Preheat function | This means the battery is preheating. If you did not want to do this simply turn it off by pressing the button 2x rapidly. |
Flashes Red light | Battery is out of power | Time to charge your battery |
Battery flashes a purple light 3x when you connect a cartridge. | This is to prevent a short circuit that occurs from the cartridge being screwed on too tightly. | Try cleaning the electrodes on both the battery & cartridge.
If this doesn’t work slowly unscrew the cartridge to see when then button turns solid. |
Flashes purple light 3x when NOT connected to cartridge | Short circuit | Clean the electrodes on your battery, there is likely debris that has caused a temporary short. |
Cartridge is clogged, nothing happens when you pull. | Depending on how it was put away or when it was used last there may be some some oil residue in the air hole. | Use a pin to clear the blockage in the airhole. |
Blue flash and no vapor | Lack of connection | Use a pin or paperclip to carefully lift the connection plate. |
